December 2004

Everyone enjoyed the ADAPS Christmas Party! Many thanks to you all for coming and for bringing along the food and drink. A good time was had by all. Special mention goes to Liz Marron for her Christmas camera cake.

October 2004

John Riley has had an article published in 'Pentax User' magazine this month. 'Back to the Roots' examines John's love of classic cameras and focuses on the Pentax Spotmatic cameras of the 1960s and 70s. Well done, John!

We had a full house for Andrew Gill's Magic Lantern Show on the 21st. Everyone enjoyed a marvellous evening of Victorian entertainment.

Sad news, as our much-loved President Bert Ogden passed away on 6th October. Bert, aged 83, had been a member of ADAPS for 40 years and our President for the past 10 years. He will be sadly missed by all his friends at the club.

September 2004

Good news for Paul Jones this month, as 15 of his glamour photographs were featured in a new photography technique book - 'Lighting for Glamour Photography' by Duncan Evans & David Kimber, published by Amphoto Books. The book is aimed at showing photographers how to create high impact glamour shots.

August 2004

This year's set subject competition theme was 'Landscapes' and we had lots of entries. Congratulations to Dave Newton who won 'Best Print' and to Paul Nemeth, winner of 'Best Projected Image'.

Our annual Community Open Night was well attended and enjoyed by all. It was great to see so many visitors come along to see what ADAPS is about and express an interest in joining us.

July 2004

Congratulations to our member Des Barr, who has this month scooped first prize in 'Digital Photo' magazine's Creative Challenge with his photograph of old and new screws.

June 2004

We have negotiated a discount for ADAPS members wishing to have their digital images turned into 35mm slides with slide services specialists Micro-Quiz. To obtain the discount ADAPS members need to quote a unique password when ordering. Please see Paul Jones for details.

May 2004

The club's Annual General Meeting assembly voted unanimously to award honorary memberships to two members who have given years of tireless service to the club; Bert Ogden - our esteemed President, and Jez Huscroft - former treasurer and competition secretary, whose efforts have been much appreciated.

April 2004

April saw a large number of entries for our annual prints and slides competitions and it was heartening to see so many fine entries from members old and new. The results are posted on our Competitions page and we must say a word of thanks to our judges Tony Duffy and Keith Suddaby who did a splendid job of appraising all our works.

March 2004

It's good to see use of the ADAPS Message Forum growing, as more members are posting questions, comments, tips and catching up with club news. February was the forum's busiest month so far, with over 100 messages posted.

We welcomed our former competition secretary and good friend Jez Huscroft back to the club, when he gave an interesting slideshow demonstration of night photography. For those members who have never ventured out at night with their cameras it was very informative.

January 2004

ADAPS was featured in this month's 'Pentax User' magazine in a double-page spread - 'In Search of Rembrandt - an experiment in studio lighting', focussing on our photoshoot with Maxine in which we attempted to recreate Rembrandt's classic painting 'Young Girl Leaning on a Windowsill'.
