We have taken measures to make the ADAPS Clubroom accessible to visitors with a disability by purchasing a wheelchair ramp and other equipment. We will be pleased to provide any further information you require before you visit.
All meetings are held in a smoking-free environment.
If you have any questions please send us an email
and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
Low-cost membership
Please feel free to come along and meet us. There is no charge whatsoever
for visitors to attend a couple of meetings in order to get a feel for what
the club is about and to see how you enjoy it.
If you then decide to join, our membership subscription is very low - just
£35 per year for adults (less than 60p per week!) Senior citizens and unwaged members
pay just £25. A joint membership for an adult and a partner costs just £45.
Your membership entitles you to attend club events throughout the year and
will open up a whole new social life, gain you new friends as well as developing
your hobby and making you a more competent and confident photographer.
A growing and varied membership
ADAPS has seen a significant increase in membership over the past couple of
years, to the point where we are now the largest camera club in the Wigan,
Leigh, Bolton and local area and currently one of the Top 3 photography clubs in the Lancashire and Cheshire region.
We are pleased that we have a good mix of male and female photographers and
a cross-section of age groups.
From complete beginners to competition winners
ADAPS members recognise that we were all novices at one point, that we are
all still learning and that we all need various levels of help in getting
to grips with the many aspects of photography.
The club offers an excellent learning environment where less experienced photographers
receive as much help and guidance as they require from other members and from
the varied syllabus of events in order to improve their skills, enjoy taking
photographs, unleash their talents and even winning competitions.
It's about photography
At ADAPS it really doesn't matter what camera or equipment you have.
It's not about film or digital, what equipment you use, or the size of your
gadget bag - but the image that counts, as well as enjoying your photography. So there's no need to feel intimidated by the size of your camera or lack of gear. We're
not all using the latest cameras that cost thousands of pounds.
You definitely won't find any equipment snobs or elitism at ADAPS.
Events all year round
A lively syllabus of practical photography sessions, competitions, photographic
trips, studio sessions, digital imaging workshops and a range of guest lectures
and other events will have you making photographic masterpieces in no time!
Unlike some clubs that only meet for half a year, ADAPS offers a programme
of events all year round, which means that there is bound to be lots for everyone
to enjoy.
In our own clubroom
Many camera clubs meet once a week for a couple of hours in their local library
or community centre. ADAPS is fortunate to have our own clubroom which means
that we can use it as often as we like and that our meetings can go on for
as long as we like, with no need to keep an eye on the clock.
The clubroom is large and also doubles as a studio, with various backdrops,
continuous lighting and studio flash lighting available. We have a kitchen
and toilets.
Friendly and welcoming
We appreciate that people may find going to a club for the first time a daunting
experience, so we guarantee a welcoming and friendly atmosphere to all new
visitors. Please see our Syllabus
page and feel free to come along to any of our events and bring your equipment
along with you if you want to, any photographs that you want advice on or to generally ask
for any help that you need.
Please come and see us soon!
