Like photography? You'll love ADAPS.
ADAPS meets every Thursday, all year round, at 8.00pm. We welcome visitors and new members.
Our address is:
Atherton & District Amateur Photographic Society
Back Stanley Street
ADAPS has a good mix of members of all ages, young and old, men and women, beginners and experienced photographers. You'll soon find friends to buddy up with and we'll help you as much as you need.
You don't need to bring anything with you to your first meeting, but if you want to bring your camera to ask us any questions, or some of your latest photos to show us what kind of pictures you like taking, you're more than welcome. Your first visit is free of charge and we'll even offer you free refreshments.
We welcome anyone with an interest in photography to come and join us. It really doesn't matter what camera or equipment you have. It's not about film or digital, what equipment you use, or the size of your gadget bag - but the image that counts, as well as enjoying your photography. So there's no need to feel intimidated by the size of your camera or lack of gear. We're not all using the latest cameras that cost thousands of pounds. You definitely won't find any equipment snobs or elitism at ADAPS, just like-minded, friendly amateur photographers who like taking photos.
There is no charge for visitors to attend their first couple of meetings in order to get a feel for what the club is about and to see how you enjoy it. If you then decide to join, our membership fees are very reasonable - just £37.50 per year for adults. Senior citizens and unwaged members pay just £27.50. A joint membership for an adult and a partner costs just £50.
Your membership entitles you to attend club events throughout the year and will open up a whole new social life, gain you new friends as well as developing your hobby and making you a more competent and confident photographer.
All year round in our own clubroom/studio
Unlike some clubs that only meet for half a year, ADAPS offers a programme of events all year round, which means that there is bound to be lots for everyone to enjoy. Many camera clubs meet once a week for a couple of hours in their local library or community centre. ADAPS is fortunate to have our own clubroom which means that we can use it as often as we like and that our meetings can go on for as long as we like, with no need to keep an eye on the clock. The clubroom is large and also doubles as a studio, with a kitchen and toilets.
We have taken measures to make the ADAPS Clubroom
accessible to visitors with a disability by purchasing a wheelchair ramp and
other equipment. We will be pleased to provide any further information you
require before you visit.
All meetings are held in a smoking-free environment. If you have any questions please email email@example.com
